FLEA PREPARATION SHEET
Congratulations! You have just completed the first step toward successful flea eradication. You have hired a reputable, experienced, professional, pest control company that stands behind every eradication they perform. Hinkle Termite and Pest Control appreciates your business.
TERMS:
- HTP must have a positive identification of fleas.
- Do NOT use any of the over-the-counter products or procedures to try and rid yourself of fleas. Our experience has demonstrated repeatedly that often well-intentioned attempts will make our job more difficult. Fleas are resistant to many of the over-the-counter products and we have seen them scattered and prospering as people try to “fight them themselves.”
- One of the most important things for you to understand is that fleas are tremendous egg layers. It will take up to 4 to 4 ½ weeks to completely rid your space of fleas. Do not attempt to spray or “bomb” the home prior to the professional treatment. This will often make achieving the eradication more difficult and expensive.
- Fleas can be difficult to control without teamwork. We have prepared this checklist of things the customer needs to do to help the process be successful. We have found that when the customer follows these guidelines the treatments are more effective and control is achieved more quickly.
- Please Review this checklist and complete it in the order indicated. The property needs to be ready prior to your appointment time. If you are not going to be prepared, please contact the office prior to appointment time to discuss rescheduling when you will be able to be prepared. However, if the necessary preparation has not been completed upon our arrival, HTP reserves the right to add additional preparation fees. Please note: All homes, hotel rooms, or apartments that have excessive clutter will NOT be treated. A thorough and successful treatment cannot be achieved while there is excess clutter.
PREPARATION:
- Clear all carpeted floor (including closets and under beds, boxes ,clothing, toys, and any other items that will prevent treatment.
- Wash (in hot water) or destroy all pet bedding materials. If bedding material is discarded into the trash, put in a trash bag and remove to exterior trash container as soon as possible.
- Vacuum wood, tile and vinyl flooring.
- Vacuum all carpeting and rugs.
- Vacuum pet sleeping and resting areas (on and under furniture, window sills, shelves, etc. )
- Vacuum all furniture, especially between and under cushions.
- Empty vacuum cleaner contents into trash bag and remove exterior trash container as soon as possible.
- Remove the vacuum cleaner bag, and if you have a vacuum cleaner without a bag, clean the filter immediately and dispose in and exterior trash container at once.
- Arrange to have your pets treated the same day as your home.
(THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!)
DURING THE TREATMENT:
No people or pets are allowed in the home or apartment during treatment and for a minimum of 4 hours following the treatment.
AFTER THE TREATMENT:
- Do not clean carpet or floors with detergents or cleaners for at least two weeks. (detergents will neutralize the chemicals)
- Do not vacuum for one week after treatment, then continue to vacuum until follow up treatment.
- If infestation is severe, it may be necessary to launder and dry clothing to remove fleas, eggs, and pet hair.
- Repeat ALL preparations on the day prior to the second treatment as well. This should be scheduled 14-21 days from the initial treatment.
- An exterior treatment of your lawn may be necessary as well. Our technician will advise what best fits your needs.
GUARANTEE:
HTP flea eradication service is guaranteed for 30 days beyond our second service date. If live fleas or flea allergic skin reactions are occurring beyond the 30 day guarantee period, HTP will charge for any additional services as an obvious
re-infestation has occurred.
DISCLAIMER:
HTP does not advocate disposing of mattresses, box springs, recliners, sofas or any furniture. Sometimes, disposing of infested items adds to “peace of mind” and is necessary. But remember it is very clear that replacing these items alone will NOT solve a flea problem. The cost involved in replacement of infested items may be better spent on the eradication. NOTE: moving any infested beds, furniture, etc., without completely enclosing them in plastic may spread the infestation by allowing eggs and fleas to drop from the item as it is moved. Please let HTP complete the disposal for you should it be necessary.
